Hiya everyone! We sure hope you're having a great week. As always, its been a busy--but super fulfilling week. Luckily I have a friendly ReminderBot to keep me on track! Lynnette and I have been working on loads a meds this week, and are feeling great about being able to have the knowledge to do so. I've also been diligently working on the new software for the kitties. This is AMAZABLE. Its wonderful to keep everything on task.

Kitty updates! Coralie is doing just wonderful with her meds she is on to keep the tumor at bay. Debbie and Ilse have been doing great and all the babies have been very well out and about on their own, aside from one little one of Debbie's making his way behind a rack. But we've baby proofed it now! (in fairness, we thought we had before--apparently not good enough!) Braveheart, Missy and Spring are now in the main room as of today. I think they'll settle in just nicely. We also took in a new girl, her name is Freya. She arrived on 04/07/2022 and her date of birth is 02/10/2022. She was found by the bar in Oakwood by our volunteer Jackie S. She's just the sweetest thing and seems like she is ready to play!

On Wednesday we had a Flash Sale and that brought in $768.00! This will help cover our electric bill and some meds we had ordered so thank you all for joining in.

Thursday was Humane Ohio day. We sent up 27 females and 25 males! The 3 FFRC kitties to go up were Ilse, Braveheart and Missy, they all did great and are happy to be back.

Thursday was also Box Day! Yippee! I love box day because it feels like Christmas. We have some big thanks to give------------the kitties and volunteers were so happy!

Day two of blogging! When you just have so much to share, and one blog won’t cut it. HA!

I have some fun Jacci updates!!! “Caryn and kids are visiting
and will arrive tonight for a week.
We had a big storm last night. Been taking dogs to dog park everyday almost. They have met other Great Danes and Abner made a new friend with a little 10 lb dog!
Cat are all doing super and are feeling at home. We went to ocean beach twice in the last week. The water so very blue. All is good!”

It’s so nice to hear they are doing so well!! On the flip side, I told her the kitties here were also doing well. We did quite a few weigh ins this week and everyone seems to be right on par, which is exactly what we want to see. Coralie, Ramsay, Vernon were great! Derecho did weigh about a pound more than last weigh in, but he assured me it was only the winter fur!

We did take in two more kitties. The first one is Missy II. She was found in the Chief parking lot in Paulding Ohio. She is a beautiful long haired Tortie. Her birthday is Oct-29-21. She is about 5 months old. She had terrible ear mites and fleas, but over all in good health.

The next one is Braveheart II. He is a medium hair black tiger. He was also found in a parking lot, this one McDonalds, crying by the trash cans. He did have a tick on him, but was quickly treated! His birthday is Aug-27-21.

Well another week has gone by and what a wonderful stupendous week! Last Friday was my very first adoption. Wow! Hamilton could not have found a better home. They brought our grand total to $2,710.34. I cannot be more thankful! In celebration, Lynnette ordered 30 more FIV tests, which costs over $600! Thank you bump-uppers!!!

Bellabell, Kittiesmom, Jaxx, Schrunchions, Kat B, Lucikate, Luna the Cat, Tanzagirl, May/Mat Viola, Sonja & Vern, luvthe animals, Jesi, Rita Murphy, Lawson Grey, Michelle H, Daydreamz, Josie G, Fran D, AceWonder, Phoebe Yule, Sidewinder, Kathie3103, SuePok

Thursday was Humane Ohio Day! We sent up 49 kitties including our Hamilton and Steven. Both boys are doing wonderful and play play played like crazy when they got home---which caused them to sleep a lot today! They are doing great.

Today we sent up our sweet old boy Rathbone. Rathbone came in on March the 11th for a euthenasia. Lynnette and I were ready for this upon arrival and had the medicines out....but once we looked at him, we both realized he was 'fixable'! He was definately in a rougher shape. He has a bad left eye, a limp in his left paw, which turned out to be a broken elbow, terrible ear mites and wounds on the back of both ears from scratching. It was an absolute amazing feeling knowing I KNEW I could help and I KNEW how! And he's just a love. He went to the amazingly wonderful Dr. Darcy today for his neuter, and to repair his left arm. She was able to pin it, and keep his arm. Yippee!!

Looking forward to Sunday--the first day of spring! Enjoy it! And remember kindness is free and can do so much, lets all share it!

Thursday, March 10, 2022

Well here it is, my very first blog post! Eek I’m not nervous, I’m not nervous. Ok, maybe a little. But luckily I have Steven, Magic and Egypt on my desk proof reading and pointing out errors, in between eating snackers of course. So very grateful for help! So many updates to give! So grab your coffee, blankie and snuggle in with a kitty for a big catch up.

First of all - the wonderful Mama Jacci. She’s just the bestest and has been so helpful in instructing me on meds and some ‘how do I do this’s’. She’s really enjoying her retirement and has taken the dogs to the beach ALOT, which they love. Everyone seems to be settling in very well. While Jacci is so very happy, she misses the kitties, volunteers and all of you very much. I'm just so happy for her, she deserves a retirement so very much.

I’ve had a lot of questions about my ‘day job’. Yes, I still have that! I’m working a ‘hybrid’ schedule right now which is at FFRC from about 6:30 till 8 or 9, then to my office till about noon, then back to FFRC till about 6-7ish. While it’s not the most ideal having such long days, I’ll work on it and super appreciate you all’s kindness and support! ❤️ And big huge thanks to my hubs Eric—he’s just beyond supportive and has been taking care of the home front.

New intakes: Gosh it's alot!
Steven approx. 6 weeks old, doing wonderful and has found a great friend in Egypt.
Egypt, our broken leggy boy. Approx. 6 months old, had a FMO surgery and is doing AMAZING. Big thanks to our wonderful Dr Darcy and Dr P for saving this sweet boys legs.
Hamilton the 2nd, approx. 9 months old. Had terrible ear mites, and an URI, Luckily meds helped a lot!!
Ilse (mama) came in with a large wound (possibly mastitis) that is now completely healed! She did have a 'flare up" but with the help of great antibiotics is now doing great! Her babies are Aragorn, Hindi, Angus, Donut and Giorna.
Debbie (mama) found at GM, and just a wonderful mama. Her babies are Pickles, Cherry, Freckles, Boop and Tootsie.

We also have major thanks to give. We have gotten numerous donations during this transistion. If I missed thanking anyone, super please let me know. I am just beyond grateful for all of your support. We also started boxes today --YAY!
Heres a big thanks to all of you!

The cats are so so excited! They know that Santa Paws brought another load of goodies for them!  Many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Santa Paws (Bill and Angie L) for the time, organization and shopping they did to accomplish Kitty Christmas for the Rescue center.  Four big loads have now arrived. The shelves are stocked, cabinets are full, sheds look happily restocked (including tp & pt!!).

Friday was our Kitty Christmas Day, recognizing our FFRCNation for all the wonderful gifts! We did a presentation at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm.  Just fun things that we hope the viewers enjoyed, to show our appreciation.  It was fun for us, including making a yummy cat cake for the cats as part of their celebration, which us humans joined in too (made us $500!).

We also received 4 pallets of litter--worth $2,742.58.  Two of the four pallets are here. The other 2 are ordered and will be here shortly!

Medical supplies were ordered and paid for--worth $3,525.94.  Includes antibiotics, soreness meds, flea products, eye/ear ointments, vaccines, worming products, etc.  A great gift!

Our $1,429.33 vet bill was paid off! The cats were thrilled. And then......bonus! We have $2,397.95 as credit. A great thing as we have some dentals already scheduled!

Today was a HumaneOhio surgery day. A very good day as this is what makes the difference in the overpopulation problem. We sent up 53--a great number! This came to 23 females and 30 males! It's a beautiful site to see that neuter/spay truck pull in! The check ins went smoothly.

This past Weds. was our fun-raiser day.  Here's the breakdown.

A.    $325          Won By Stacy Eh

B.    $230          Won By Madisonpepper

C.    $110             Won By Kathy Pas

D.    $280             Won By Tammy Ga

E.     $170             Won By Allen Cmo

F.     $270             Won By Mary LF

G.     $225            Won By Pat P

H.     $215            Won By Steph M

Bump Upers  -- Susan345, Marco German, Jo603, Jaxx, Jabr, Schlee, Sue Pokorny, Luna the Cat, Wolffy, Mich & Vern, Sonja, Ken, Clair & Paul, Kittiesom, Mary SoCal, Jesi, Belltime, DKweiler, Janice, Karensaintsing,

Fun Raiser Total $1,825
Bumps $ 860.44

Grand Total $2685.44  A happy event for us.........now to get those monthly bills caught up!  We are so grateful for those that provided the items and those that placed tickets. And a big thanks to our mods and admins for helping us with this!

We've had more adoptions!
12/8--Sissy adopted, one of Veronica's kittens. Such a beautiful kitten. All purrs and kneading to have her own home!
12/8--Little Missy Big Stuff--was adopted and went into a home with another FFRC cat. Missy will have her very own bandana with her name on it!
12/8--Epona and Nala were adopted...together and to one of our volunteers (Barb).  They have an awesome home. I've seen a picture and sure looks like happy cats!
12/9--Karleen was adopted. She actually went into the home of the family that found her, with her horribly fractured leg. She is such a beauty!
12/13--Shamballie--yes, our PawMart cat, previously my mom's cat, once a Porchie and now belongs to our wonderful friend, Beth. Pictures and notes show that all is good. And happy...it's the best!

Popcorn has not been officially adopted yet but probably will be! Our friend who adopted Little Missy Big Stuff brought her here to be looked at this past week. She had been pitifully crying and crying. Physically, she looked great, but something was certainly "off".  After checking her out, I put her on the floor and off she went to play with the other kitties, happy as could be. My feeling is she missed that companionship. So, one of her closest friends, Popcorn, became an emotional therapy cat for a cat! Popcorn went into the crate with Missy and went to her home to give her confidence. It seems to be working and all seems peaceful now!

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, from myself and the cats. You folks that have become our FFRCNation are truly the nicest people anywhere...so kind, so compassionate, so sharing.and have become friends of ours, here at FFRC. Have a peaceful holiday season.

**Remember, this Saturday, Steve and I will be leaving for the OBX in NC.  I've always wanted to experience Christmas there and so this year, we shall! We will be back on 12/26, late in the evening. During this time, I am planning on trying to keep off my phone as much as possible.  The volunteers and moderators know how to reach me though! Everything is covered here. Things may be a bit different, but all is good!**

Monday, December 6, 2021

Remember, our Kitty Christmas will be on this Friday. Because of Covid and our wish not to have 30-35 people here at one time helping with how we use to do Kitty Christmas, we will have a day of cat fun with the webcam viewers! We have had 3 visits from Santa Paws. The pics that were posted on FB, shows how awesome our FFRC friends have been. Our shelves look much better. This gives me a sense of peace and feeling good about our inventory. This Friday, December 10 we will have some fun things going on for our viewers. This happens at 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.  There's stories to tell, kitties and cats to show, drawings to be done to show our appreciation, guessing games on our very own FFRC cats, a display of the folks who donated to Kitty Christmas........all in fun and to show you our appreciation! Come join the fun!

We had a Flash Sale on Dec. 1 for which we are grateful. This one was a whopper and brought in $1404.  These Flash Sales helps us with our month to month bills. Much appreciation for your support.

Strawberry Field was adopted 12/4. She went to an awesome home. I've already seen a picture of her in her home and she looks very content. Her new mama says she hasn't stopped purring!

We had a return. Nala was returned last week. This is the the kitten that was found by my daughter, outside the Hospice door. Dawn brought her home after work. It didn't take long for her to be adopted. But, her family didn't have time for her, between their jobs and traveling and so was returned.  She is an extremely beautiful kitten--tiger/calico  mix with bunny soft medium fur.  She sure has been having fun playing!

We've seen Killion since she was adopted. Oh my.....she is so so loved. Her family thinks she is wonderful!

The latest on Cupid is great. He is doing super well, no neurological problems and continues to be a sweetiepie.

We had HumaneOhio last week. We sent up 45 kittens and cats. This came to 28 females and 17 males. The check in and check outs went smooth. Many thanks to Lynnette, Gem, Becky, Debbie and Mary Braid. Right now we are on pause for taking more spay/neuter surgery appointments. We are already booked to the end of January and don't have the Feb. schedule yet. Just a temporary pause!

If you hear thundering going on inside the rescue center, that would be Eggs, Wuzzy, Popcorn and Rascasse.  They are amazing--running, flipping, climbing and just having a lot of fun!

We have several more cats/kittens on hold. Those would be---Sparrow and Popcorn (together) and  Missy Big Stuff.  Plus, we have possibilities for Shaz and Karleen.

The video playing continues on my desk. Nyota and Shaz especially loves it. Anything that moves is good--squirrels, fish, birds, chippies--it's all fun. Nyota tried very hard to get the squirrel this morning and almost knocked the monitor off!

Right now in the purple office, Derecho has succeeded in getting himself up to the second level of the kuranda towers. He usually does this twice a day, for a nap. Magic is sound asleep on my desk--he is my assistant. Karleen is also on the kuranda tower, napping. Popcorn is chasing something--only she knows what it is! Vernon is in his Dodger's Pen for a quickie nap.  Sometimes he enjoys going in there for quiet time. Nala just buzzed by so fast it was a blur--she's on Popcorn's trail.

Take care, have a great week. All is well here. Derecho and Magic says so!
