Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone! Those rascally 6 kittens were overhead asking King Magic and Queen Coralie if they could dye their fur green today.  We have good royalty cats as they persuaded the kitties to go in another direction. They then asked me if I could hide Shamrock's for a fun day! So, of course, we will. Keep your eyes open--there's  25   between the Kitty Kabana and the Main Area!  Have fun!

We had an awesome adoption!  Bub went to his new home. He is now called Mr. Bub and looks totally happy! Here's what they say---"Mr. Bub is living it up! He chose to spend all night in bed with my 8 year old and woke her up this morning by licking her face! He walks around like he owns the place already! If he's not sleeping or eating, he is walking around meowing asking for someone to pet him. My daughters get a kick out of his purr because we can hear him across the room! We truly couldn't be happier! He is just the sweetest, he even goes right upt o our 10 month old and let's him pet him and rubs against him! We are so grateful!".  Sounds like Mr. Bub has a happy life!

Update on Steve! He is doing great! Can't keep a good guy down! He ended up not having to have another stent put in. His heart is not 100% (well, I think it is!!), but it still is functioning pretty good! As of today, he can drive again and we are still planning on starting our vacation tomorrow! We are both so grateful for your prayers and good thoughts.

We have more thanks!

My question--how did FFRC become such a lucky recipient of these wonderful folks in our FFRCNation.  It's simply and plainly, a blessing to us. We could not function as we do without this support. It certainly warms the heart. I am grateful.

Lucy is here on my desk, chomping away on a whole stick of a treat bar! Magic is giving himself a bath, while listening to the music (he likes that!!). Coralie is with me too--she knows she always gets a sampling of the RC mother/babycat kibbles. CDot has come and gone several times, jumping on my shoulder, doing his morning drool on me and then going to play! Zelda has had her Temptation snackers on the desk. Spiker is always first to get in a certain bed, right behind my chair--easy reaching for ear scratches. Ramsay is just starting his nap, after having his special snacker mix too.  My work desk crew!

As many of you already know, Steve and I are aiming to leave tomorrow for our spring vacation with family at the OuterBanks. We will be on the 4 x 4 beach, which we all love. So close to the ocean and we get lots of views of the wild horses there. No worries.......all pictures taken are at a far distance. We have seen in the past, the foals and their mamas, stallions fighting, horses right on the beach, their play times where they run all out on the sandy roads. This is what we enjoy watching. We always have lots of walk time on the beach and will visit a nature preserve we haven't seen before. We all practice good Covid safety. Our last day at the house is on the 28th, a Sunday. It's a long drive so we don't know if we will be back that night late or on Monday.

Please, a favor to ask!  While I am gone, to keep the emails/correspondence  at a minimum. I plan on not being on my phone, other than to take pictures and to check in with the mods and volunteers.  We have the bestest folks in the world and I know that all will be fine while I am gone! Thank you--I'd sure appreciate that.

Tomorrow is HumaneOhio--should have a full load! No FFRC cats will be going on this trip.

Yesterday, Lynnette and Donna did a spa day for the Covies--nails were trimmed and more brushing and combing was done.

The 6 LJ kittens are doing super good--growing and either sleeping or playing at full speed! They are a very active group. They are out and about the entire day, just going into Paddys Place for night time sleeping.

We took on a new cat. His name is Zandro. He is a full Ragdoll who has gorgeous blue eyes. His mama will have to move and it's impossible to take him. I thank her for helping him--she rescued him at a young age. He is 13 months old, with a birthday of 2/14/20. A gorgeous cat. Today he made a short trip into the main area. I want to introduce him to Kitty Kabana today as he enjoys watching out windows! His fur is a bit short right now but is growing into a magnificent coat.

Take care! I'll miss the cats and kittens so much but know they are in good hands. You all stay healthy!

Sunday, March 14, 2021

The snow piles are gone.....even the big ones made by the snow plows!  The cats are shedding, the horses are silly and playful, sunbeams make the cats roll around in them, the chicken egg production is good!  Spring is almost here!

We've had two more adoptions!

Skandar was adopted 3/12--such a handsome young kitten with his round eyes and round head! His new mom had the weekend off just to be with him! He went into the same home that adopted Joy Joy!

Ringo was adopted 3/9. I've already heard from his family:  "Just wanted everyone to know Ringo is doing so good!  He is settling in great and is boss of the house! He is so sweet and is pure joy!"  I am so happy for our boy.

This week, we have had families in to see the LJ litter. They are now all on hold with their families waiting for them to be spayed/neutered. We are hoping this will happen on 4/8 and then they will be going to their new homes.  Today Bub will be adopted! He's another big boy with a great heart!

The 6 kittens are now in the Main Area with Paddy's Place as their nap time/night time sleep and their eating place. I love how when they get sleepy, they bundle up together. They are doing great.

We had our FUn-Raiser on Weds.! A great time with super results!  I am so grateful.

He will be there overnight--home Tuesday. They will let me go into the hospital to be with him, which I am grateful for. We will be leaving about 1:30 tomorrow. Please keep him in your prayers and good thoughts.  Thank you.

We are still planning on leaving for our vacation on Thursday sometime.  Steve just won't be able to drive or pick up anything heavy for a while.  He can continue his recovery there at the OBX!

This Thursday is our HumaneOhio spay/neuter day with a very full schedule!

This week was Flea Prevention week for all of the outside cats. As of today, all but a couple have gotten their Bravecto, thanks to Donna's hard work on this.  We use Bravecto because we only have to apply it  every 3 months, is good not only for flea prevention but it does a dewormer too and fights any earmites.

All is good.  Hang on to your seat......I think this week is going to go super fast. Just 6 more days to spring!  Take good care.

Saturday, March 6, 2021

Spring is 14 days away now!  Robins have been spotted as well as the turkey vultures and red-winged blackbirds. This morning I heard the beginnings of the bird morning songs! Slowly winter is passing. Still a little snow on the ground.

Thursday was our HumaneOhio day. We sent up 45 cats--a very good day. That consisted of 27 females and 18 males. Three of these cats were from FFRC--Myles, Rose and Skandar.

We took in a new kitten--Skandar. This kitten is a male, brown tiger and has a round face and round eyes! He was found all by himself, was hungry and brought to FFRC. He has a birthday of 12/1/20. Skandar is super sweet. He is already on hold! On Friday, he will be going to his new home where Joy Joy was just recently adopted.

The 6 kittens are doing super! Their mama, Rose is now spayed so she will be going back to the home she came from. She will continue to be an inside cat. They are excited to have her back.

This coming week will be busy with people visiting the 6 kittens to pick their choice--a fun time! As we've been doing this past year, we are Covid safe. We always wear the masks, visitors also must wear them. The rooms we use for visits are cleaned in between each visit. Right now, we already have 2 of the kittens on hold--Laura and Joall. I'm sure when these visits are over, all kittens will have a note marked on their chart--on hold!  Their spay/neuter day is April 8.

Weds. was our LJ flash sale. It was a happy (and a bit sad) event. We all still miss LJ so very much. This sale comprised of the things she purchased over the years and never used! We found everything all still brand new and knew she would appreciate these items being resold for FFRC. This sale brought in $702!

This Sunday, tomorrow, starts our Fun-Raiser! All 8 items are wonderful.  Tickets are $5, as usual. You can buy as many tickets as you wish, for any item(s).  The sale ends on Weds. at 9 am and the tickets will all be taken care of. And then, at 1:00, begins the drawing and of course, consolation prizes!  These fun-raisers are super important to FFRC and truly makes a difference for what we can do. Thank you. There will be a video on the webcam of the items and also pictures on our fb pages!

Many of you already know that Steve and myself along with our family enjoy taking vacations together. Our spring vacation is coming up! We will leave on the 19th and return on the 28th or 29th.  Again, we will be on the 4 x 4 beach of the Outer Banks (OBX). We so enjoy this area as that is where the wild mustangs are. We love watching them, from afar.  The volunteers have it all covered and are pros!

Coralie is doing super good. It is noticed when it's almost time for her next dose of meds that some of her symptoms return. Once the med is given, she quickly is back to her normal self. Normally, she gets this med twice a week. Her weight is good and is holding!

This week we did weights, toe nail clippings and ear cleanings for the inside cats. Everyone looks good. The outside cats also received this same treatment and were also brushed/combed out.

We have thanks to give. This Rescue Center couldn't possibly be what it is without your help and support. You all mean so much to us. I thank you for what you do for FFRC.
