Hi there guys!! Goodness, these last two weeks have been full of lots of fun and adventure, so let's get caught up!
As you know, our last Humane Ohio transport was cancelled due to bad weather---so that meant 16 kitties very much needed their spays and neuters. BIG BIG thanks to Dr. Darcy and her crew for getting just about all of them in.

NEW GAL CECILIA! We took in this sweet girl on 2/7/2023. Cecilia showed up at a nice family's house. They noticed a wound above her eye and tried to tend to it as long as they could but realized this sweet girl needed more help and brought us too us late one night. She was quite the mess. She had incredible mats in her fur, ear mites to the point one ear is cauliflowered over, fleas, dehydration and malnourished, and a wound above her eye. After a few days of antibiotics and general care, we noticed she walked a little stiff and had some breathing issues. We took her to Dr. Darcy's. She found buckshot pellets riddling her body, but mostly in her rear right leg, a 'galloping' heartbeat, fusion of her thoracic spine mostly due to age, and dental issues. We have hr back and will be working on improving her weight and overall health, as well as pain meds that she will need for life. We will see how she does over the next couple weeks. So far, she is a lovie girl, LOVES cushy beds and food. She is a grey tiger, with a date of birth of 6/29/2010.

On 2/8, we were able to get Cavendish up for his neuter and CATch up for his eye removal and neuter----but uh oh---CATch turns out to be a girl!!! So due to lack of time, they were only able to get her in for her eye removal. And as you've seen, she's be-bopping around like the wind. Nothing stops that girl. She'll be going up tomorrow for her spay with Humane Ohio.
On 2/9, we were able to get Egypt and Kiara in for their surgeries. For a quick rundown, Egypt had a fracture in his remaining rear leg, up towards the femur head (the ball that fits into the hip socket). This became more and more evident over time as he grew. In order to avoid a whole amputation, we did the Femoral Head removal. Hopefully this will work for our boy and save his leg. To date, his sutures have been removed, and he's starting to get floor time now, but it is a little tiring. Kiara had that sore on her paw that was initially thought to be an old broken toe but turned out to be cancer. Kiara in typical fashion is as feisty as ever, bulking her bandages, meds, and cone around her head. LOL I LOVE to see our sweet girl being feisty. Shes got the spirit to fight, and that's wonderful! They are both doing wonderful.
On 2/11, I got to experience something amazing. Dr. Darcy and Dr. Mercer were kind enough to invite me up and watch them neuter a bunch of our boys. They included Stratton, Alfred, Otter, Chumley, Simpson, Zeke and Thor. That was such an amazing experience, I'm so grateful for them. Dr. Mercer spent extra time showing me more things! It was very neat!
We also had an adoption that day of Hadley and Chagall. They are doing just wonderful in their new home. I know they are just being spoiled like crazy.
On 2/14, Valentine's Day we had a full and exciting day!! We wrapped up our Valentines Funraiser, raising a whopping total of $8600!!! This helps so very much with all of these extra medically needy cases we have going right now, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!!
We also sent up Malade and Guppy for their spays with Dr. Darcy, as well as Cecilia's checkup mentioned above. They all did wonderful!
On 2/16, we sent up Blackberry for her spay, and Ninja for his neuter and hernia repair. Again, massive thanks to Dr. Darcy and her whole team for squeezing all these kitties in!!!
From 2/15 to 2/18, Lynnette and I were gone at the annual Veterniarian Confrence in Columbus. Wow, we had such a fantastic time and learned TONS!!! Big big thanks to Connie for covering meds as well as Debbie for helping her. And for all the other amazible staff and volunteers for making sure everything ran smooth while we were gone. It was so nice to learn things, but I sure did miss everyone and the kitties most of all.
During all of these happenings, we had boxes! Oh, wow what a fantastic time. We are always so very grateful for everything you guys send in to make it a super special day for the kitties. Big big thanks to all of you!!!!
