This week has been a marathon week.  Y ou all kept us hopping busy with calendar sales for the FFRC 2022 calendar. This is designed by Mary Friday night volunteer.  We originally ordered 200 which have now been sold out. Another 100 has been ordered and will arrive this week so we can fulfill more orders!  We are thrilled and thankful!

Thursday was another HumaneOhio surgery day. We sent up 34 cats--20 females and 14 males. This included 5 of our FFRC cats. All did great. Our five passed with great physicals. Those were: Epona, Rascasse, Popcorn, Courage and Tycho.

We've taken in three new kittens and one cat

Princess Tiger Lilly--a black cat with a white tummy and neck. Also a tiny bit of white on her bum. She is 18 months old, with a birthday of 2/21/20. She was already spayed and arrived with flea dander but is all clean now! She loves to be petted and have her head rubbed.

Wigglesworth--a grey tiger/white that is ever so thin. He arrived 10/14 and was 15 weeks old. He is super friendly, had a load of fleas and just so bony. But the FFRC meals will help with that. His rear left leg is severely bruised--completely purple.

Epona--a beautiful torti/tiger that is so playful. She is non-stop playing. I think she may need a little adjustment to the other kittens but once she does........she will have so much fun playing. She was found on a road by herself and kept for 3 weeks, then brought to FFRC. Arrived 10/18/21 She is 5 months old, birthday of 5/15/21
Trix--a white kitten with multiple abrasions, bruise, scabs on body. Was in a car engine. She must've tried desperately to get out as all four paws are have bruises and abrasions. Had to have help getting her out. She is 10 weeks old, birthday is August 10. Arrived today 10/19. Has a tiger tail with one white ring. Very very sweet. Also had bloody eye drainage along with a very bloody nose. She is now spending time with Veronica's kittens so she has some kitty friends.

Great adoption news! Bijou, our beautiful white calico cat has a new home! And her new mama sure does love her! I've seen a few videos and Bijou looks very happy! All is good.

Cupid is doing good. There are a few leads to this case. They are being investigated.

Courage has found her courage! She is braver, loves people, has lots of fun playing with the other kittens. One of her favorite things....the Bondi licks!

Veronica and her 7 kittens are doing good. They are now out and about in the Main Area. They are little play machines, especially in the mornings!

We have started another round of doing ears, weights, flea prevention and check over on the Porchie cats. We have 4 done and will continue to do a couple a day. When the Porchies are done, we will move to the Covie and Firehouse cats.

As many of you know, the washer has been a real frustration to us in the past few months. The repair guys from the company we got the washer from, came and looked at it. The latest is that the parts are not available. Very frustrating. We've been able to limp along with the washer but much of the items had to be wrung out with the wringer at the sink (thanks to our friend who purchased this for us). As of the middle of the week, the washer is no longer able to run at all. So, we've been using the washer at my house which is not convenient. There's many doors, doorways, gates to get through. One of our volunteers, Debbie, even made a trip to the laundromat for us. But, this is expensive as it takes about $30 each trip. We are also unable to get this company to come and take out the washer for us--remember, it's extremely heavy and cemented into the floor.

Today begins the day of demo for this washer. It is being taken apart, piece by piece. At least once it is out, we can then look for a new washer. The saga continues.

More adoptions coming up! We have Frumpkin, Cheshire and Veronica (the mama) that will all be going to their new home together! Wonderful news! We also have Popcorn and Sparrow going to a home together. Sparrow has to have a check up yet though. And then, we have Ian and Tycho being adopted together! There's high interest also in Courage.

Winter cold is coming. The generator had it's check up and passed with flying colors. The heated water bowls are clean and reedy. We know where the snow shovels are. The furnaces will have their check ups too soon. Salt for snow and ice is ready. We're ready for it........(but hope that snow stays away for a long time yet!)
