 Woah! Guys, it's been like 3 weeks since I did a blog update. This blog will be so big, I'm gonna make it a two-parter. This first one will be a huge massive thank you to all the boxes senders!  Hi there friends! Happy start of fall! OK not quite yet, but it feels very fall-ish around here. We’re heading into my favorite time of the year and I think the cats favorite time too. We’ve been having the windows open more and more, as it’s been a bit cooler out yet still warm. And the cats love this so very much. I've got quite the hodge-podge of info, so curl up with a kitty and lets dig in! 

Fenceathon projects I’ve been coming along nicely. The A-frame has already been torn down, and now we’re working on the gray barn. The gray barn is very poor, and by tearing parts of it down, we can see how truly bad it’s become. Grizzly our outside boy who lives the gray barn has been transitioning nicely to his new digs, much that’s to Cindy who’s been working with him very much. We’ve also got a new cam computer coming. That was a surprise expense we didn’t see coming but oh so needed. That should be here in a week or two depending on the build and shipping. Then thanks to our wonderful Kim mods will get that switched over very quickly and hopefully everything will run nice and smooth. The fence for the cove is finally in the design stage and almost completed. Yay!! This has taken a bit as we’ve altered this, altered that. We just want to make it the safest possible.

Like always, we’ve had a busy couple of weeks here, but all good things to report. The kittens in the back are finally starting to get over their sniffles, thank goodness. I hate when the babies don’t feel their best. My goal is to have the ones fully feeling better out in the main room on Monday. Look out Volunteers!!! Hehe!

Our wonderful mod Joe took on a challenge suggested by FrankiPablo. The challenge was he should sing Happy Birthday to our mod FlyMom for her birthday 8/13. Well sweet Joe with his swoon worthy Scottish accent accepted the challenge to raise money for FFRC's medical bills. And boy, you all didn't fail!!! We raised $2205.12!!! WOWZERS!!! We are so very very grateful for this extra boost!!! BIG HUGS all around and special thanks to Joe for all his practices in the shower this last week to prepare!!

We’ve had a couple adoptions in the last two weeks, Marco and Julius went to their new home together on August 8th and I’ve gotten lots of updates that they are just doing wonderful!!! I couldn’t be happier.

Medical updates: Coralie had gone to Dr. Darcy for a check up. Her tumor that was discovered in November 2020 is still there. We've changed up her meds a little to make her more comfortable. All in al, Dr. Darcy, and I think all of us are amazed she's made it this long. She is an absolute fighter and we'll cherish every day we get with her. Kiara also went in for a check up. She is doing well on some new meds after discovering she has pancreatitis. She's in no pain and really just doing fantastic. We are so very relieved and happy. Mayor Anony had his dental as well and that went wonderful. He had 7 teeth removed and after several days of pain meds, he went back to the cover, which he was VERY happy about. 

Jacci update: "All is good. Been to the ocean beach and the bay beach this week. In 40 days is our family vacation, like we always have done. All family is coming! Dogs want to go to the doggie park daily. Yesterday made an amphibian/reptile garden in our back yard. I'm interested in volunteering to help pack kids meals. All is good but my heart surely misses the resident cats. Our cats and dog are doing good. Miss you all. All three of us humans also doing good. You all take good care." 

Boxes, boxes and boxes have been coming. We just love box day around here. It's always great fun. We have very many thanks to give. We are so blessed with such wonderful supporters!

 Hi friends! Wow wow and more wow! What a whirlwind couple of weeks it’s been. First off we had fence -athon and you guys blew us away. For my first big fundraiser since taking over the rescue I didn’t know what to anticipate. But it sure wasn’t this! I felt like I had planned for every scenario, but not what would happen if it went so well. We have a grand total for you right now, brace yourself, it’s $77,788.72!! Then when you include the sale of the Got Uppies shirt, that brings us to $81,388.72. Lots of math science for me but I love it! BOOM, PIE!

After Lynnette, myself and the entire staff and volunteers picked ourselves up off the floor, we’ve spent the last two weeks sending out prize baskets, cleaning, restocking meds, and doing general updates on all the kitties. We’ve also had Martha’s husband, Larry, generously offered to remove the A-frame and the gray barn. The A-frame has already been torn down, and the gray barn will be starting soon. The A Frame was so unstable, difficult to clean and just ready to come down. Grizzly, who lives in the gray barn, has been transitioning nicely into his new swanky shed. We also ordered today over $3000 worth of medicines to refill our supply cabinet. Such a wonderful feeling to know we have all of these meds on hand for when they are needed.

We are also working on getting the final quotes and details in line for the Covies new fence. We are very excited about having something nice and secure for them especially with the winter months coming up.

I did have one of the hardest things happen in these last couple of weeks. Vernon. Our sweet, loveable, scarf of a kitty, passed on July 9th, 2022. Even writing this chokes me up. He was so very special and is so incredibly missed. I remember him as a tiny kitten and watching him grow and fell so in love, just like all of you did. Rest in Peace buddy, you are so very very loved and I know you're getting all the Uppies angels can give. Love you boy.

The kittens have all been doing wonderful and growing growing, though a few of them are getting kitty colds which is why you haven't seen them. They are just having little sneezes and all that comes with it. Luckily we are keeping a close eye on it. After chatting with Jacci today about it, I learned its just super common, just like kids in a school room. 

All of Debbie’s babies, Boop and Pickles, Freckles and Cherry have been adopted into wonderful homes. I’ve been getting updates that they are doing wonderful so far. It truly makes us so happy, even though it hurts the heart a little when they go. We have quite a few that’s currently on hold as well: Molly Girl, Marco, Julius, Cumberland and Crockett. All very great homes and know I throughly check them before. LOL

This week we also celebrated two birthdays, our awesome Spiker who is now 6 years old and Lucie who is now 7. They has a fantastic time with a chickie party on Friday. 

Today we also took in our moderator, MightKat, kitties, Smokey who is all black with a tiny patch of white on his chest and Junior, who is black and white. Both are believed to be around 10 years old, but I do not have full vet records as of yet. For now, I will continue as if they are new intakes and start all vaccines. They are both doing well, although a little unsure of their surrounds. Poor things have been through an ordeal. I'm so happy we can do this for MightyKat.

 Hi friends! Goodness time sure flies here at FFRC! It seems it has been forever getting a blog out there. I'm sorry about that. Lynnette and I often joke that FFRC is a time warp...we come in on Monday, then a couple hours later its 3:30 on a Friday! I'll try to do a brief update as we have many many boxes to give thanks for! 

Fence-a-thon begins next week! Wow! Here's the info on it: 

                          FENCE-A-THON 2022

July 11th through 15th (Monday through Friday) 

from 9AM to 5PM each day

 

We are doing something newer in the fundraising world called Adopt an Envelope. How this works:

 

There will be 400 envelopes numbered 1-400. The envelope you choose to ‘adopt’ is the amount you are contributing to the funraiser. (i.e., you pick envelope 298 = you PayPal/check/Venmo $298)

 

FIRST:  To pick an envelope, you must call (419-393-2400) or email (fofrescue@gmail.com) to confirm your number. This is to prevent people picking duplicate numbers. 

 

THEN:  Once you get confirmation from FFRC, you can send in your donation.

 

Each envelope contains a ticket for a drawing! We have 40 baskets valued over $100 and a grand prize Kuranda Tower! On top of being entered into the drawing, each person who donates will have their name on a plaque for the new fence!

Should all envelopes get adopted, we will have raised over $80,000. 

 

Oh my! One of the reasons we are doing things differently is to try to minimize the huge expense of shipping AND to make donating accessible to all. Sometimes the Catathon baskets would get so out of reach in prices, many were ruled out in participating!

 

Here are our expenses we’d like to help cover:

New fence $30,000 (we are going with part vinyl, part kitty fence in hopes to be more durable) 

Two outbuildings removed $5,000

Trees removed $7,000

Prepay vet bills and order meds $8,000

Vernie Update: Vernon is hanging in there. We've been amping up the chickie times and walks outside so his days are filled with his favorite things. He has lost a little more weight, but we continue on for the time being just making him as cozy as possible. His appetite is good, and he seems over all happy. I'll take what we can get. 

We did have a little stomach bug working its way through here but luckily that seems to be on the way out. Clean, clean and more clean is the best way to combat this, but it somehow can sneak in. 

All the kitties are doing good and Dagda had his leg amputation and is doing wonderful! I'm so proud of him. I think he's happy to have the pesky, ouchie leg gone. He'll get his sutures out next week. Weee!

We also have an adoption today of Freya! Oh my gosh I'll be sad to see that sweetie go but she's going to  a great home. They already have one of our other kitties, Danu, adopted in October. It'll be wonderful for her.

Hi friends! Happy middle of the week Wednesday! Are you ready for some updates? Good, grab a coffee, a kitty and snuggle in.  

First off, Pannniaaaa! Our sweet girl had a little episode the other day (Wed) during the flash sale. Out of nowhere, she started having difficulties breathing, pacing and just a general ‘not rightness’. After very quick consults, we gave her meds and slowly she improved over the night. Dr. Darcy was nice enough to squeeze her in with Rory on Thursday for a general look over and blood work. After that, Dr. Darcy determined she has Chronic Sinusitis and Chronic Bronchitis. She’s currently being treated with a few meds and seems to be doing well. Yay! Talk about a relief. 

Rory went with Pania and had an amputation. And turns out, Rory is a boy!! Whoops. On the upside, he’s doing fantastic from the amputation and was ready to get out and play two days later. Very soon little baby!

Speaking of babies, we took in a lot. The general rule before I would leave on vacation is to not take in new babies….well I might have broke that rule. They just needed help and it’s so hard to turn them away, believe me, I cry when I do. 

The first one to come in is a buff boy named Dagda. Oh what a mess he was. He was found on 6/3/22, with a birthday of 5/11/22. A good Samaritan found him roaming around in the country. He came in with terrible ear mites, fleas, a bad right eye and missing his back left leg from the knee down. We have been able to get rid of the fleas and mites and have been doing daily washes on his leg. He is not only surviving but THRIVING. Oh my goodness, he’s the happiest little guy for all he’s been through. And he has the most FFRC-iest tummy to have ever tummied! 

Next is Marco. Marco was found on 6/6/22 by the dumpster in the parking lot by our new employee, Katherine. I’m sure he was dumped, and while we definitely do not like that to happen, I’m glad he’s with us. His birthday is 5/19/22 and has the most beautiful brown/black tiger swirls to him. He came in with an URI and bad eye matting. Luckily, with medicines, food and lots of lovies, he’s doing wonderful! 

Then we have little Julius. What a sweetie he is! He’s the littlest of the bunch, born 5/21/22. He arrived on 6/8/22 and was found by a couple walking at the reservoir. He had lots of fleas, ticks and lice. He also has an eye infection that luckily is greatly improving with meds. He’s also a brown/black tiger and has the cutest little pre-ear floofs. He’s eating well and learning to play. Its such a joy to watch them grow. 

And last but not least, is Bridge and her two babies, Monty and Winter. Bridge is a dilute calico, with a birthday of 8/20/20. Monte is white and gray, while Winter is a dilute calico like her mama. Their birthdays are 5/1/22. They came to us on 6/5/22 from our volunteer, Brandon. They were found in Toledo. They are all doing very well! They had fleas when they arrived, but over all very healthy! 

Now on to boxes. Wow, what fun they were! We had boxes on Tuesday and also an impromptu boxes on Saturday. I wanted to help Lynnette out while I was gone, but boy did she still have A LOT! You all just blow us away with your generosity for our rescue and these adorable kitties! Many many thanks to all who sent in stuffs!

 Well hi there everyone! I hope everyone is have a fantastic weekend. Its been so very beautiful here lately. Right now I have Willow on my desk, proof reading---really I think its just for the snacker jar. Her hair is coming in nicely and she's gaining a nice bit of healthy weight. She looks so cute and her pants are starting to grow in! 

We have been full steam ahead here, so much to work on and so many kitties to help. A huge THANKS to Lynnette and Debbie and all the staff for working so hard while I was away on my work convention. As many of you know, Spiker had a rough go, lot of vomiting and diarrhea. After a couple different treatments prescribed by Dr. Darcy, he still wasn't 'bouncing back'. So Last Friday he got to go see Dr. Darcy. He even has a nice sleep over there, PJ's included! It turns out he has Inflammatory Bowel Disease. This is something difficult to treat, much like Crohn's in people. Everything will be fine, then boom, a flare up. Luckily, he seems to be on a good concoction right now, no more getting sick and having firm stools. Such great news!!!!! 

We took in a new kitty! Her name is Rory II and she's just the sweetest thing. Little one has a severely broken front arm and we've got her scheduled for an amputation coming this Thursday. She's just the purriest kitty around and plays like you can't imagine!! She's really going to do well!

Over the past week, we had three adoptions too! Donut and Giorna (now MooMoo) have gone to their new home and just thriving. They are so spoiled. Seeing the happy pictures, reminds me of why we do this. Its such a happy thing. 

Aragorn and Tootsie also went to their new homes each. I'm looking forward to updates of them soon, but know they are just going to be great. 

We have two whole weeks of box thank you's to catch up on! Goodness! I need to say a super duper big thanks to everyone who sent in goodies to the kitties. You guys are just the bestest and make the rescue fun! THANK YOU!!!
