Other Updates:

Planning has begun on our biggest fundraiser of the year.  This is the ‘a-thon’ annual fundraiser that focuses on needed funds to help reach our goals.  The theme of this year’s event is to create an overall fund where money can be used to help ‘sustain’ FFRC during the highs and lows of the financial aspects of running the rescue.

The fundraiser will  begin June 17th and end June 22nd.
Last year $94,000 was raised,   The prior year $80,000 was raised.

We are hoping to raise enough money to lessen the stress of always being behind in our bills.  More details will be coming up.

We have always been blessed to receive a discount with our Vet, and were notified this week that the Veterinarian  office is no longer in a financial position to continue with the discount.

So the ‘de-stress a-thon’ (name to be determined) will become an even more important event.

Lots of great visitors this week from the cam world.  Love visitors and the cats love them too.

Tigerlilly - a family was taking care of her and unfortunately let her out while her family was on vacation.  A search was done in Defiance and she wasn’t found.  Once her family returned from vacation they also searched and called all the shelters and rescues in the area and it turns out that Tigerlilly, who had just turned up at FFRC the previous few days, was Maybelline! She is now happily home with her family.

Good portion of the week has been focused on de-winterizing things around the property.

Nyota had Squizzle and Achoo over last night for some snacks and friend time.  After a few hours they decided they had visited long enough and knocked on the door to be let back out to the Center.  The timing was good as Nyota likes to watch ‘her shows’ on Thursdays without any interruptions from other cats.

Health updates:

Stripe is a barney (16) years old and needed some blood work done.  The blood work came back well but he does have some dental work needed and a little bowel issue.

Several people have mentioned that Buddy has been drinking a lot of water and we are aware and working on this issue.

Yellowstone has been limping a bit for a few weeks and we are aware of it and he is being monitored.  It is nothing serious, no breaks and his spirit is upbeat.  He needs a little ‘quiet’ time in the back for a few days.

Our two newest cats (Zorro and Jezzabelle) are doing well and adjusting well to their new world.  Both are ‘big’ cats and make quite the presence.

Rumplestiltskin is doing great.  He hates taking his meds but he’s doing great.  Walking a little on his leg and bending! About 4 weeks of rehab to go.

Pelican is getting better with shyness and may be ready to soon come into the main center.

Adoptions:

There were no adoptions this week.

We have heard from Jan’s new owner and Jan (now Ginny) is doing very well.

And Willow is also doing well in her new home being loved and loving.
