FFRC Blog Week Ending November 22, 2025

FFRC Blog week ending November 22, 2025

I have finally figured out how to enter directly into the FFRC Blog which will make this so much easier to read. I apologize that the last couple of months have looked more like a large run-on sentence than a blog. Also, I would like to wish an early Happy Thanksgiving to all of our US viewers. For everyone, please take the time to reflect and give thanks to whatever is important to you.

Adoptions:

ASTRA: Our calm and sweet Astra was adopted on 11/17/25. She arrived at FFRC on 9/24/24. She was found at our Sunday evening volunteer, Brandon's home. Astra is mostly white with a grey tiger tail and head. Her fur is bunny soft and is between short hair and medium hair in length. Astra will be keeping her name and now lives near Pittsburgh, PA. She has an older brother named Sid.

CAST, now SULLIVAN, now with a middle name of Cast, was adopted on Friday, 11/21/25. Sullivan was found with his brother Servalan in 2023. His date of birth is 4/15/23. He was found in a box at Walmart at about 10pm. The box was marked "Free, Take one." Luckily the kittens were brought to FFRC. On Friday, Adopter Mia reached out to Megan because she was looking to adopt another cat. Mia already has one of the Walmart kitties. Megan told her that Sullivan was still at the center, and later in the day, Mia was there to take Sullivan home. Sullivan is a grey tiger with a triangle-shaped face. He has big and beautiful eyes. He is a bit of a noodge--he will follow you everywhere. How wonderful that Sullivan has found a home with his brother. An early update regarding the brothers' reunion is that Sullivan is already making biscuits in his new home. He has met Servalan, which went pretty well. There was no hissing or fighting. Servalan was a little nervous and Sullivan was very curious. Cats are nicknamed Servy and Sully.

Intakes:

CRACKERS: On Saturday, right after the staff party, a little black tiger with a bad eye was brought in. This 3-month-old boy is not yet neutered but has tested fine. We will be watching him closely. His name was from the Name a Cat program and was submitted by SonJa..

Health Updates:

SCAMPER has a bit of a cold but is feeling much better. He is playing, which is a great sign.

KAHU, OLGA and DONOVAN are all struggling to keep weight. They are all on supplements, antibiotics, anti-diarrheas and fluids. Please keep this momma and two of her babies in your thoughts. Babies, Barnabus and Raisin are doing fine.

BETTY is no longer kept in the Cove. She was climbing trees trying to get out, so it was deemed safer for her to live outside the Cove. She still has a limp. Megan may take her to the vet to have her hip re-examined.

CRACKERS will soon be having eye surgery and his neuter. He is healthy but has a very bad eye that needs to be removed.

Holds:

There are no kitties currently on hold, although Ludwig has interested adopters. They may be able to get him next week. They will need to have plenty of springs, because this boy is obsessed with them.

Center Kitty Updates:

PEAPOD, FUDGE AND SNICKERDOODLE have graduated to the main room. They may still be kept in Patty's Place overnight.

Alumni Updates:

SERVALEN was adopted almost two years ago. He is an orange male kitty. He is just the sweetest cat with a funny personality. He loves plastic. See above, he has been re-united with his brother Sullivan, formerly Cast.

JUDE, an Inky blind kitty, woke his mommy up at 3:30 the other morning. Mom got up thinking that he was hungry. She fed both Jude and Loki (Jude's CH brother). Loki was the one that was hungry, Jude ate just a few bites and then went back to bed. He was just making sure that his brother was taken care of. Jude is now the Service Cat for Loki. Blind Kitties are so intelligent. This is why we are featuring the Office Kitties this week in the Blog.

The best place to see updates on Alumni Kitties is through our FFRC Chatters Official Facebook Group.

Events:

On 11/15/25, FFRC staff and volunteers celebrated with their annual party. The event was catered by our good friends at The Grazing Herd. The table included cheese ball, monkey bread, buffalo chicken dip, whiskey meatballs, fruit, veggies, chips, meat roll-ups, popcorn, candy, Chex mix, meats, cheeses and crackers. What a beautiful spread. Each team member also received a goodie bag. Thank you to the donors that made this a special day: Terri B., SonJa, Karen R., Pat C., Sally, Carol R., EthelWings, Lucy T., Eaglewatcher, Janet K., Jessica L., Denise and Elizabeth, Mr. Meow, Kari D., Cecilia W., Lynn Marie, Ellen B. and JAS. Hopefully, I didn't miss anyone else. Fun and games were had by all.

A Flash Sale was held on Thursday, 11/20/25. Most items were Christmas-themed. These included many hand-crafted items from our talented Chatters. All items were sold and $1,885 was raised for the center. The proceeds from this flash Sale will be used mostly for vet bills. Please make sure that you have forwarded your payment so that your items can be shipped prior to Thanksgiving. All proceeds stay within FFRC to aid in the care and upkeep of our cats.

Please do not ever feel that you need to participate by donating.  You can help the rescue by subscribing to our YouTube channel…LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE.  This helps tremendously and doesn’t cost the viewer anything.  Also, JUST BE KIND!

HUMANE OHIO was also on 11/20/25. A total of 40 cats were sent for their spay/neuter. There were 26 females and 14 males in the group. No FFRC kitties were sent this time.

KITTY CHRISTMAS will be held on 12/6/25. This is our annual food drive (including treats and also cleaning supplies). All boxes will be pre-opened with names of donors read on the 6th. Last year we received 420 boxes. Our goal is to beat that this year. As of Friday, we had received 146 boxes, which compared to last year's total of 128. Cash donations via PayPal, Venmo, Credit Card and Checks are also always welcome. Many visitors will be attending Kitty Christmas this year!

MEET THE OFFICE KITTIES:

One of the RULES that Megan and Lynnette had (past tense) was that the office would be a No Kitty Zone. Well, 5 cats later we have broken that rule. More cats to come?

JUNIOR came in with his bonded brother, SMOKEY.  They had been in the same home for 10 years until their owner passed.  They are very lovable boys who enjoy being spoiled and getting brushed.  These were the first of the office kitties.

Smokey
                                                                                    Junior

ABBA and APONI
are siblings who were brought into FFRC. They are both blind kitties that really know their way around the office. They climb, catch flies and borrow things from Lynnette's desk. These two kitties were brought to FFRC by two different families a couple of days apart. It was apparent that they were siblings when they were put together and greeted each other with big hugs.

Abba is a male tiger that loves to nap.

Aponi
is a girlie girl. She loves her blingy collars and chats with Lynnette about getting her hair and nails done.

MITZI is the third blind kitty that stays in the office. She is the rascally one. And guess what, another tiger kitty. Mitzi is the smallest of the tigers, so it's easy to identify her.

Other Updates:

Two new volunteers started with FFRC this week. Lauryn will be with us on Tuesdays and Lexi will be with us on Thursdays.

Shalin had her 1-year anniversary with FFRC. YEAH!!!

We do not yet have a date when the 2026 calendars will be available.  We will let you know as soon as possible.

FFRC has nearly 50,000 subscribers.  We are under 600 to go to meet this grand number.  Let’s tell our friends and family to subscribe.  FFRC does not receive anything once they reach this milestone, but we can look forward to something special to celebrate once we reach this goal.

Megan was extremely busy this week doing employee reviews.  The big takeaway is that Communication is Key.

FFRC Blog Week Ending November 15th, 2025

FFRC Blog week ending November 15, 2025 Rescue work has the happiest times and also the saddest times. This week was one of the more emotional weeks. We all enjoyed watching the progress of Merlin (2) and were saddened by his loss. Adoptions: There were no adoptions this week. Intakes: Mommy and four babies: On Sunday, 11/9, the local police department called Megan and let her know that four kittens were trapped in a window well. Megan said that she would take them, but before they arrived, the police called back and asked if she would take the Momma, too. Well, now we have a 1-year-old Mommy and four 1-month old kittens. On Tuesday, all five were named. Kalu, meaning Caretaker, is a friendly grey tiger. This is the mommy cat. Her name was submitted by Jesi. Barnabus: This sweet Inky received his name from Sally Paul. Donovan: This baby boy is mostly an Inky, but has a white locket on his neck and on his tummy. His name was submitted by Auntie Anita. Olga: This little girl (?) is white and grey. Her name was also submitted by Auntie Anita. Raisin: This is a sweet grey girl. Her name was submitted by Cindy W. All names that were submitted were chosen form the Name a Cat program. The program has been suspended until we can get the list down to a more manageable number of names. We want to be fair to those that submitted names in the past before we accept new submissions. Health Updates: Merlin (2) crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, 11/10, at Dr. Darcy’s office. Cindy took him to get a prognosis, but his white blood count was so low, he couldn’t strive. He was very warm, fed and loved his week that he stayed at FFRC. Megan and staff were able to provide comfort during his last days. He progressed while he was with us, but he just wasn’t strong enough. The Rainbow Bridge received another angel. Although our hearts are broken, we can rest easy knowing that everything was done for him. He marked our spirits and will be forever in our memories. Snoopy: Our 17 ½ year-old Barnie has progressive kidney failure. She lives in the Barn with her brothers, Stripe and Dude. She visited Dr. Darcy on 11/13, but is declining. This is Cindy’s baby. Please keep her in your thoughts and provide “air hugs” to her. After Snoopy’s brief visit at the vet, she is back in the barn. This is her home. She has her special spots that she enjoys. Betty has been moved to the Cove. She has a small limp, but in time, this should not hamper her getting around. Shre is an escape artist, but we are hopeful that she will remain in the Cove. Fudge has a bit of a skin issue, but he feels fine---just looks a little ragged. As soon as this condition clears, Snickerdoodle will join him and Peapod in June’s Room. Alma: Good News here. Although Alma is thin, she is eating well and playing a lot. Many have noticed that she is more mobile than she has been. She is in very good spirits. Finney: Almost done with his FIP treatment. He is quite the rascal and has been allowed to roam the floor in Back Thumper’s Room. He loves to run around with a toy in his mouth and growl. I guess he thinks he’s a big game hunter! Finney made a special guest appearance during Q & A. He was a bit sleepy, so was on his best behavior. This calm behavior is not his normal rowdy activity. Zoe: Megan’s dog is still struggling. Please keep Megan in your thoughts. Holds: No formal holds at this time. Here are those that are being considered. Ludwig: Ludwig’s adoption date has been postponed. The family and Ludwig are all fine, just looking for a suitable date. His potential family won’t be able to pick him up until the week of Thanksgiving. Because we don’t like to hold a kitty for more than two weeks, he is technically now off hold. If he is still available, he will go to this family. PB (Peanut Butter): Not technically on hold, but some interest. PB is in Back Thumpers Room, because the main room is a bit overwhelming for him. He is a returned kitty. PB is an orange boy that would love to go to a quiet single animal home. Center Kitty Updates: Spark & Miss Jewel: These kitties were moved to the main room this week. Spark on Friday and Miss Jewel on Wednesday. Spark is a female Dilute Calico. Miss Jewel is also female. She is a domestic medium hair grey tiger. Alumni Updates: Rosa Maria and Wispy: Parents could not be more smitten with these “kittens”. Rosa Maria is the snuggle bug and Wispy is more playful. She loves her new human youngster. Waldo & Lilo: Big brother Waldo, orangie, loves his little sis, Lilo. And Lilo loves Waldo. He’s her favorite kitty! River and Paprika: Both are doing great. Achoo: Loves watching the outside world and also likes her doggy friend. Amy: Still has the silver tips on her black fur. She is settling well and is getting just a bit curvy. To see other updates on alumni kitties, please make sure that you are members of the FFRC Chatters Official Facebook Group. This is the best place to see pictures and updates. Events: Please do not ever feel that you need to participate by donating. You can help the rescue by subscribing to our YouTube channel…LIKE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE. This helps tremendously, and doesn’t cost the viewer anything. Also, JUST BE KIND! The annual staff and volunteer party was held on 11/15. This year the celebration took place in the newly expanded Kabana Room. The Kabana camera was turned off and the Main Room sound was turned to music. This was to allow the team time to relax and be themselves. Chatters provided wonderful gifts that were placed in bags for each team member. Two massage therapists and a photo booth were enjoyed by all. The party was from 11 to 3. Next week’s blog will provide more information on these festivities. The next Flash Sale will be held on Thursday, 11/20 at 11. This is a mostly Christmas-themed sale. There are many items available. Please tune in. Kitty Christmas will be on December 6 th and starts at 10am. Kitty Christmas is one of the largest annual fundraisers for FFRC. This is the time that we request food, snackers and cleaning supply donations to help the center close out the year and start out the new year with a full pantry. Cash donations are always welcome, too. Please mark the labels for any Kitty Christmas donations with your name and “Kitty Christmas”. All boxes will be pre-opened and names read on this day. We would love to exceed last year’s recorded number of boxes! The number to beat is 420. Also on the 6 th , there will be loads of activities and games. It will be a fun day for all! The Mods have placed a reminder on the Main Room screen. Current Needs: Here are this week’s needs: 13 Gallon Trash Bags 33 Gallon Trash Bags Heat Lamps Canned Wet Food Royal Canin Mother & Babycat Dry Food Canned Chicken and Tuna Appetizers Gravies, Bisques, Broths and Stews Cat Treats 6- and 9-inch foam plates Bleach OdoBan Paper Towels The list is kept up-to-date on the Amazon Wish List found on the FFRC website. Other Updates: During Box Day on 11/11, we had a short visit from our wonderful Carmine. We were so glad to see him, even though it was for just a short time. Thank you for your visit, and we are wishing you well while you attend school to become “our” future vet. Sunday evening Cheri is back. We were very glad to see her and Brandon this last Sunday. On Thursday, 11/13, 39 kitties were sent to Humane Ohio for spays or neuters. There were 21 females sent and 18 males. This group included FFRC’s Snickerdoodle, 1–2-month-old female and Scamper, a 6–7-month-old Inky boy. FFRC has nearly 50,000 subscribers. We are under 800 to go to meet this grand number. Let’s tell our friends and family to subscribe. FFRC does not receive anything once they reach this milestone, but we can look forward to something special to celebrate once we reach this goal. As always. Special Thanks to all that provided so much during this week’s Box Day! This week, beyond the “necessities, there were wonderful people treats and toys for the kitties. Otter was especially thrilled to get to pick a new feather toy from the many sent by Mr. Meow. There were also items for the Staff & Volunteer party, beautifully hand-crafted items and other assorted items to be used in the next Flash Sale. Closing: VETERAN’S DAY As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. FFRC Blog Week Ending November 8th, 2025

FFRC Blog week ending November 8, 2025 This week’s blog will be filled with updates on our sweet little Merlin 2. For those that are not aware, there is another Merlin at FFRC. He is an outside kitty and is the one remaining FireCat. He is a fluffy buff colored kitty and can be seen near the cove. He mingles with the other outside kitties, but he is standoffish to humans. Adoptions: There were no adoptions this week. Intakes: Merlin (2): Merlin is a mostly white kitty with black spots. He has what looks like a black bow tie on his forehead. On Monday, 11/3, he was found by a good Samaritan who was passing through Ohio. He passed the kitty on the road. He went back thinking that the kitty had passed. Once he was able to obtain the kitty, he found that he was still hanging on. He called various places until he found FFRC. Megan agreed to try to help work wonders for this little boy. The Finder was so concerned; he waited in the Welcome Room until Megan completed the intake. Thanks to his concern, Merlin has a chance to become the kitty he deserves to be. Merlin is about 5-6 months old and was only 2 lbs. 4 oz. when he arrived. He arrived extremely emaciated, covered in fleas, with an upper respiratory infection, which caused his nose to be almost completely closed and a severe eye infection. Once the crust was removed from his eyes, Megan found that they were severely swollen and pus-filled, but the actual eyes look amazingly healthy. He has tested negative to FIV, Feline Leukemia and Heartworms. See below for more health updates. His name came from the Name a Cat program and was submitted by Sheryl T. Scamper: Not a new intake, just an update to last week’s info. Our new black kitty has been named Scamper. The name was submitted by SonJa through the Name a Cat program. He is just about ready to join the main room. We are just finishing up on his de-worming. Health Updates: Starlight is a still a bit snarky (snotty nose). She is enjoying the main room and should be well soon. Betty is being a bit pouty. She wants out of her cage, but still has a bit of healing to go. Peapod and Fudge: These little ones are in June’s Room awaiting the arrival of Snickerdoodle. The move of Snickerdoodle has been a bit delayed while Peapod and Fudge get over their colds. Merlin (2): Merlin continues to get stronger, but is still not out of the woods. Since Monday, Merlin has gained an entire pound. Most of this extra weight is due to the fluids that are being pumped into him around the clock. He has urinated in the littler box a few times, but as of the Friday updates had not yet had a bowel movement. When Merlin arrived, he was so weak he was unable to even hold his head up, and now he is moving around and even opening his eyes. Now that Merlin is feeling a little better, he has become quite nosy. He wants to know what’s going on around him and wants to have some kitty friends. The main thing that Merlin likes is to be held—all of the time! He also likes making biscuits and showing his tummy. He doesn’t like to be put down or his eye meds. Keeping his temperature normal is a struggle. He has a heat pad and many soft layers to lay on. Dr. Darcy said that the temperature issue and his not passing stool is not uncommon and should clear within two weeks. During Friday updates, Merlin was brought to the camera. Until Friday, he had not eaten anything other than what was syringe-fed to him. HOWEVER, he must really enjoy being on camera. He decided that he likes a recipe that Mary Braids put together and also found that he really liked to be fed from a spoon. He nearly ate the entire bowl! He is now using the litter box on his own, has groomed his front legs/arms and tried to clean his back legs. He even has given Megan’s nose a few nips. He will get a bath as soon as his temperature stabilizes. UPDATE!!! On Saturday, Merlin passed stool twice and is now 3 lbs. 7 oz—which is bigger than Fudge!!! He is also eating on his own. Please continue the good thoughts for this little boy. We are cautiously optimistic regarding his recovery. He is a fighter!!! Holds: Ludwig: Ludwig’s adoption date has been postponed. Center Kitty Updates: Sinopa: Sinopa is enjoying life at FFRC in the quiet of Back Thumpers Room. Zoo Love: Zoo Love also is in Back Thumpers Room. She is a return that had lived in a single kitty home her entire life. She is about 7 years old and has been at FFRC for a few months. She is sweet, but a bit depressed and has lost some weight. She needs a quiet single animal home. Snickerdoodle: As mentioned above, Snickerdoodle is ready to move to June’s room to be playmates with Peapod and Fudge. Merlin will be glad when she moves out of the condo above him. She is a messy girl. She tosses her litter out of the box and some lands in his condo. I’m sure that she means well. Leibchen: Leibchen is in Back Thumpers Room. She is very shy, but happy in her little world. She loves Tiger Lilly and Emmy. Alumni Updates: Rosa Maria and Wispy: These girls are living the dream. They are doing absolutely wonderful. Wispy (the older of the two) is even more playful than her younger sibling. Heinz and Jacci: Heinz is still very bubbly. Jacci has come out of her cubby and now lies on the couch. This is great news! Mac and Piccolo: These two were formerly known as Macaroni and Pickles. They have been traveling the country in an RV since their adoption. Now that it is starting to get cold, they will be spending time in a house with more room to roam. Samara Pearl: This girl was adopted around 12 years ago. She is white and very fluffy. When she arrived at FFRC she had a broken shoulder and leg. She is very happy and healthy now. She is a miracle from yesteryear. Cher: It has now been a year since Cher was adopted. She is a short-hair orange girl that is very much loved. The annual staff and volunteer party will be held on 11/15. The camera will be lowered and the sound muted. There are approximately 25 staffers that will be celebrating at this time. If you would like to donate, please note “Staff Party” on your donation. We would love to meet last year’s record number of boxes! The number to beat is 420. Also on the 6 th , there will be loads of activities and games. It will be a fun day for all! The Mods have placed a reminder on the Main Room screen. Current Needs: Here are this week’s needs: Miracle Nipple Syringes KMR Printer Ink (Please see Amazon Wish List for Types) Heat Lamps Canned Wet Food Royal Canin Mother & Babycat Dry Food Canned Chicken and Tuna Appetizers Gravies, Bisques, Broths and Stews Cat Treats 6- and 9-inch plates Bleach OdoBan Paper Towels The list is kept up-to-date on the Amazon Wish List found on the FFRC website. Other Updates: Because it’s Fall, on Wednesday, a Kiddie pool became the Kitty pool. The pool was filled with leaves for the indoor cats to enjoy a bit of the outdoors. The first one in the pool was Jelly. She is a rascal. She was joined quickly by Yama and then Popsicle. Many other kitties enjoyed the pool, some catching leaves and carrying their prey around the center. The pool was also brought in again on Thursday and even Lucie joined in. She was interested in the pool on Wednesday, but once in the pool, she didn’t really understand what the other saw in it, so her stay wasn’t very long. Sunday evening Cheri has been ill. Keep her in your thoughts. She is expected back on 11/9. The TV in the Kabana bit the dust (hmmm kitty-related?). The new TV has been installed. Kitties are enjoying it. On 11/8, Megan celebrated her birthday, I hope you wished her well. When asked what she was doing to celebrate, she said that she would most likely attend a tour at the Humane Ohio facility with others from FFRC. As always. Special Thanks to all that provided so much during this week’s Box Day! Closing: Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers, we more than gain in fruits. Samuel Butler

FFRC Blog Week Ending November, 1, 2025

Two months left before the end of the year. Where has the time gone? Mother Nature has on her best and brightest clothes. The leaves are at their peak color now in Ohio. Hope everyone remembers to set their clock to the correct time. Spring ahead, Fall back!

Adoptions:

River & Paprika: On 10/27, our beautiful kitties, River and Paprika were adopted together and are settling in great. River is an Inky female that was brought to FFRC by Shalin. She was born and rescued from a local Lowes. Her date of birth is 6/20/25 and arrived at FFRC on 7/7/25. She was hand fed and is very sweet. Her new name is Boop. Paprika is a brown tiger. She was a surrendered to Dr. Darcy’s office with health issues. Her date of birth is 5/29/25. She arrived at FFRC on 9/25. She is now called Beep. Please wish Beep and Boop a happy life with their new family.

Rochambeau: Out little “Moo” kitty was adopted by a local family on 10/29 at 1pm. He is white with a few black dots and is very lovey. His date of birth is 6/16/25. He was found wandering the streets and brought to FFRC. His new family has two other cats, who are a little older, but still playful. His new name has not yet been determined.

Wispy & Rosa Maria: On 10/31, the lovely Wispy and Rosa Maria were adopted together. These ladies now live in Tennessee! The family was expected to adopt Wispy, but upon arrival, fell in love with Rosa Maria, too! There are no other pets in the family. Wispy is a beautiful floofy girl! She is a long hair gray dilute tortie. We all know her as Popsicle, Eric and Amy’s Mom. She arrived on 2/28/25 with her little babies. Her date of birth was 10/30/23 (Happy Belated Birthday!) Her parents will be keeping her name. Rosa Maria is a fluffy American-Shorthair brown tiger with orange accents. She was found in Michigan and brought to Defiance. She arrived at FFRC on 8/9/25 for some emergency medical treatment. She has melted purple plastic/epoxy poured on her left side. The substance had hardened. With some effort, Megan was able to remove it, but this caused some skin damage. Rosa Maria is all healed now!! Her date of birth is 6/29/25. Her name may change.

Intakes:

Snickerdoodle: A new pretty girl arrived from Dr. Darcy’s office this last weekend. Her date of birth is 9/9/25. She is a floofy dilute tortie. She has various issues: ear mites, lice, and conjunctivitis (corneal ulcer). She was a little shy, but does like to play. She weighs in at 1 lb. 10 oz, mostly fluff and one FFRC belly. She is in good hands at the FFRC Miracle Center. Her name came from the Name a Cat program and was submitted by SonJa.

New Inky Boy: We had an inky dropped off on the property on 10/30. He is about 6-7 months old. This inky has a few white spots and needs to neutered. He has a very shiny coat and no issues with ear-mites or fleas. It looks like he will be a big boy based on the size of his feet. Name to be determined.

Health Updates:

Glory crossed the rainbow bridge on 10/18/25. She lived in the Cove with all of her wonderful friends. Glory is a long hair inky with some white splotches. Glory had a heart murmur and passed with Cindy and Megan at her side.

We will miss her. Juniper had dental work done on 10/27 and is doing fine.

Kim Kitty also had a vet appointment on 10/27. She had an eye flush.

Starlight is a bit snarky (snotty nose). She will be OK, but needs to get on meds. She doesn’t like the one that will fix her right up.

Betty is still recuperating from her dislocated hip. She continues to be kept in a cage to prevent her from further injuries.

Zoey is Megan’s Boxer. Not a cat, but still part of the FFRC Nation. She was taken to the emergency vet near Ft. Wayne on last Friday night, into Saturday morning. It was determined that she has a tumor in the back of her throat. She was given a steroid to help shrink the tumor. Please keep Megan, Eric and Zoey in your thoughts.

Peapod and Fudge: These little rascals have graduated to the Big Kids Room and have been seen wandering around the center. They are around two months old now.

Holds:

Ludwig: Ludwig’s adoption date has been postponed from 10/1. The family and Ludwig are all fine, just looking for a suitable date. Hopefully, the adopters have plenty of springs for Ludwig to play with. He loves them!!! His potential family won’t be able to pick him up until the week of Thanksgiving. Because we don’t like to hold a kitty for more than two weeks, he is technically now off hold. If he is still available, he will go to this family.

Megan has approved a number of adopters. We have been seeing a lot of adoptions recently. This is a wonderful thing, although can cause Happy Tears!

Alumni Updates:

Amy’s dad just sent Megan a picture and a note. She’s getting a bit of a tummy and still has the silver ticking.

Recent Facebook pictures show Jacci getting more confident and comfortable in her new surroundings. She is quite the night owl, and likes to roam while her family sleeps. Heinz was comfortable from day 1.

There have been a lot of fundraisers recently due to unexpected expenses. Please do not ever feel that you need to participate by donating. Halloween Shenanigans hosted by Gem and Mary Braids started a bit after 3 on Friday, 10/31. The show began as soon as the table was set up. We had 1, 2, 3, + cats on the table at a time. It was quite the “catwalk”! When Mary arrived riding (what else) a black cat, the kitties scattered. Poor Spiker got ran over by the exiting kitties. They probably had never seen such a large kitty. Next Gem appeared as another big black cat. The kitties didn’t seem to fear the Gem Cat. Megan came as an English barmaid. Debbie came in as Sister Mary None of That! Ella and Shalin wore beautiful masks and added to the merriment. Games played: Guess the number of candies, winner Kat Blind-fold build a jack-o-lantern, winner Shalin Move an Oreo from your forehead to your mouth with no hands, winner Abram There was lots of laughs, so the FFRC Nation was the real winner!

The annual staff and volunteer party will be held on 11/15. The camera will be lowered and the sound muted. There are approximately 25 staffers that will be celebrating at this time. If you would like to donate, please note “Staff Party” on your donation.

Kitty Christmas will be on December 6th and starts at 10am. Kitty Christmas is one of the largest annual fundraisers for FFRC. This is the time that we request food, snack and cleaning supply donations to help the center close out the year and also start out the new year with a full pantry. Please mark any upcoming donations if they are to be included in Kitty Christmas. All boxes will be pre-opened and names read on this day. Also on the 6 th, there will be loads of activities and games. It will be a fun day for all!

Other Updates:

Sunday evening Cheri has been ill. Keep her in your thoughts. She is expected back on 11/9. Morning Kim is back. All of the kitties were glad to see her—especially Popsicle and Eric. They sure did enjoy their ride on the rug around the center. The TV in the Kabana bit the dust (hmmm kitty-related?). A new one has been ordered and should be in soon. The dead tree in the farmyard (where the geese roam) was removed on 10/31. Yeah, safety first!

As always. Special Thanks to all that provided so much during this week’s Box Day!
